What the ground in Canggu does to a design.
This is flat former rice land between Batubolong and Pererenan, filling in fast. Guests come for the cafés, the gyms and the surf within walking distance, and they will pay for a villa that feels private in a neighbourhood that mostly is not. Traffic, drainage and the plot next door are all part of the brief here in a way they are not on the Bukit.

- Groundwater sits close to the surface across much of Canggu. That shapes pool construction, any sunken level and the drainage strategy, and it is why a wet-season site visit tells you more than a dry-season one.
- Drainage before architecture
- Rice land drained through channels that development has interrupted, so surface water has to be given somewhere to go. We set levels and drainage before the plan is fixed, because retrofitting either after handover is far more expensive.
- Zoning is checked plot by plot
- Some Canggu land remains in agricultural or green designations where accommodation is not permitted, and enforcement has tightened. We verify the zoning and permitted use of the specific parcel before design, not after.
